Vase with archaistic patterns
Made in the city of Jingdezhen, the center of Chinese porcelain production, this elaborate vase was produced by the Qing imperial workshop at the height of its creative powers. The stylized dragons that encircle it recall those used on bronze objects from the period of the Warring States (475–221 B.C.), representing an eighteenth-century reinterpretation of ancient designs.
